The NWLJDS Parent-Teachers Association brings the parent body, the children and the teaching staff together, building a sense of school community and identity that has a positive and vibrant impact at every level across the school.

The PTA is made up of Class Representatives and members of the Teaching Staff (who meet regularly), the PTA Events Team and Project Volunteers.

The Class Representative’s role is to provide a channel of communication between parents and teachers, on issues such as class volunteers, daily or weekly routines, class policies, or any other general class issues. The class representatives are also a useful point of contact for new families and new teachers to work through. The class reps also organise a “class mum’s’ night out” once a year, to bring the parents together in an informal and relaxed way, and promote the other PTA events during the year.

Teaching Staff attend the PTA meetings, so that issues raised by parents and teachers can be discussed and communicated to the wider parent and teacher bodies.

PTA Events Team is made up of Class Reps and other volunteers who organize fund-raising and social events for the school community, and the legendary annual school events such as the Summer and Winter Fun Days, and the children’s Chanukka Bazaar.

Project Volunteers are people who take on important projects which raise money and benefit the school as a whole, such as the School Calendar team, and the Mishloach Manot team, the Adult Education team etc.

This year we are looking for more volunteers to help with events, designing the school learning environment, shaping the school website and other special projects.

The PTA aims to involve anyone with energy, talent and enthusiasm and a little bit of time to help build a vibrant and strong school community, so if you can help in any way at all, please get in touch with the school office.
We’d love to hear from you.

Laura Gordon, chair of PTA.
