North West London Jewish Day School

At North West learning isn’t restricted to lesson time and there are lots of extracurricular activities for children to get involved in, both during lunchtime and after school. 

Clubs currently on offer include performance activities such as dance, drama and singing (with a professional coach); sports such as swimming in our own swimming-pool, dancing, football, basketball and karate; science, and a chess club that includes teams participating in inter-school competitions.

Other clubs include arts and crafts, knitting, kodesh and anim zemirot.

February 2016

The A team, captained by Ben Weinstein, kept up its 100% record by winning all 3 games in the Brent Chess League at Barham School on Monday. The B team missed doing the A team a favour, losing narrowly to the A team’s main rivals, despite a fine win from Jacob Leon and dogged resistance from Eli Gilbert.  The B team won its other two games to remain in contention for a medal going into the final rounds. Thanks to Danielle Leon for helping out at the venue.

December 2015

The NW contingent won the Schools Chess Classic at Olympia on Wednesday, narrowly beating KCS Wimbledon after a tense finish, to record their first ever victory in the event. Jacob Leon, Jacob Cowan and Yoel Amar won all their games in a competitive year 4 group, and numerous players scored 4/5. Aidan Elstein won a simultaneous game against a chess master, with only a little help from parent organizer Mr Reuben. Thanks to all those who came along to supervise.

March 2014

The NW chess team attended the Barnet Jamboree.

December 2013

The NW chess team visited the Chess Classic on Tuesday 10 December. They played a tournament against other London schools, and came third! Mazeltov in particular to Eli G, Samzi T, Yoni Aand Jacob C, who won individual prizes, and to Benjamin F, who went up to the podium to play a match on the big screen.
