North West London Jewish Day School

Thematic Curriculum (Topic)

At North West London Jewish Day School, our Thematic Curriculum provides an engaging, meaningful and creative approach to learning. It brings together key knowledge and skills from the Humanities (History and Geography) as well as Art and Design & Technology (DT), enabling children to explore topics in depth and make meaningful connections across their learning.

Through carefully planned topics, children build on their existing knowledge while progressively developing subject-specific skills and understanding. Learning is designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, enquiry and critical thinking, giving pupils opportunities to investigate, question, design, create and reflect.

Wherever possible, topics are linked and interwoven with other areas of the curriculum, helping children to recognise connections between subjects and apply their knowledge and skills in different contexts. This cross-curricular approach makes learning purposeful and relevant while ensuring that the distinct knowledge and skills of History, Geography, Art and DT are taught progressively.

Children’s learning is further enriched through themed days, special events, practical experiences and other opportunities that bring topics to life and encourage enthusiasm for learning.
